Lasseters Hotel Casino is located in the Australian outback town of Alice Springs in the Northern Territory. It sits on the banks of the dry Todd River and is framed by the MacDonnell Ranges. The venue is conveniently positioned 1.5km from the central business district and 18km from the airport, and is surrounded by amazing red centre tourist activities and attractions.
Constructed in 1981, the original property opened as a country club and became Diamond Springs Casino when it was sold. It was renamed Lasseters Hotel Casino in 1986 when the property again changed hands. Lasseters Hotel Casino is named after Lewis Hubert Lasseter – also known as Harold Bell, who, in 1897, claimed he had discovered a rich gold reef near Alice Springs (named Stuart at that time). The gold reef is referred to as Lasseter’s Reef, but has never been found.
Seventy additional accommodation rooms were built in 2002, and a joint venture with the Northern Territory Government saw the construction of the adjoining Alice Springs Convention Centre.
Over its 30-year history, Lasseters Hotel Casino has been involved with many of Alice Springs' largest events, charities, sports teams, and local schools.
Lasseters celebrated it's 30th birthday in 2011.
