Biggest ginger bread house in Alice at Casino

For the second consecutive year, the talented Lasseters chefs have baked the biggest ginger bread house in Alice Springs and it’s on display in the hotel lobby.
Its clear Christmas has arrived at Lasseters when you enter the hotel lobby and are greeted by a 2 metres tall ginger bread house decorated with over 1500 lollies.
Executive Chef Umesh Chand, Executive Sous Chef Ramesh Lal and Chef de Parte Vicki Chandre led by Pastry Chef Ashis Kumar have spent over 16 hours baking and constructing the base for the ginger bread house and over 4 hours decorating.
Ingredients include 128 eggs, 40kgs of icing sugar, 20 kgs of sugar, 50kgs of flour, 10 litres of water, 2 kgs of ginger, 5 litres of oil, 200 grams of cinnamon and 500mls of chocolate.
Lasseters Hotel Casino Marketing Manager Megan Thompson said “The largest ginger bread house in Alice is a truly spectacular sight and worth a visit to the casino to see it for yourself. Our talented chefs have dedicated countless hours and passion to ensure our community has something extra special this Christmas”.
The ginger bread house forms part of the Christmas at Lasseters campaign, in the casino $20,000 cash will be given away on Sunday 4th December. To enter, Club Lasseters member simply swipe their card and play on slot machines or table games from now until the day before the draw. The draw starts at 2.30pm and concludes at 5.30pm.
The ginger bread house will be on display in the Lasseters Hotel Casino lobby until Thursday 5th January 2012.
In April this year Lasseters commenced a $35 million development of the venue. Lasseters currently has 140 rooms, four restaurants; two bars a sports lounge and an international standard casino. It is attached to the Alice Springs Convention Centre.
